Dear Course Provider,

The EUROPRACTICE technology-transfer initiative of the European Commission is now an established route for industry to gain access to technology and training. In the 5th Framework programme, the training infrastructure and specific training needs are now provided by EuroTraining.

EuroTraining already supports a range of training programmes: in Microelectronics, Microsystems, Packaging, Techno-Economic and associated topics at various levels, from awareness courses for beginners, best practice for practitioners, to advanced thematic courses for specialists, provided by organisations (Course Providers) throughout Europe. EuroTraining does not compete with Course Providers, but aims to work with them to ensure necessary training is available to provide continuing education to improve the competitiveness of European industry

EuroTraining, in collaboration with the other EUROPRACTICE Service Providers, Technology Transfer Nodes and Course Providers, aims to match training needs with the provision of quality training at reasonable cost. Active promotion to reach those who need training, is done through the short-form catalogue that is mailed out internationally, the EuroTraining Newsletter, email shots, fax mail and press releases. There is now a user-friendly web site showing the various EuroTraining services and containing the EuroTraining Course Directory (ECD) with a Search Engine to aid those seeking training.

EuroTraining will continue to be the one-stop-shop for microelectronics training in Europe. To maintain and develop its position, EuroTraining is now working to a structured programme based on the valuable experience and infrastructure already established by its predecessor, the Training and Best Practice Service (TBPS).

EuroTraining now offers a two-fold programme to address the needs both of students and course providers.

Students benefit from EuroTraining Awareness and Advanced Training offerings that are presented via the EuroTraining Catalogue, EuroTraining News and a user-friendly Web-Site that includes a new EuroTraining Course Directory and supplemented by a Course Finder Search Engine to help users find their way to the courses they need.

Course Providers (such as you) benefit from the service level previously provided by EUROPRACTICE-TBPS enhanced by the new EuroTraining Course Directory, in addition to the new European Quality Labelling Service and the exciting new activities on course promotion. Course Providers can freely access the comprehensive course directory and we will arrange a direct link to your own training web-site.

EuroTraining continues to seek out good course providers of relevant high quality courses.

We are pleased to invite you to join the EuroTraining programme by considering the following services.
You can interact with the EuroTraining service at three different levels:

  • Level 1: Quality Labelled (QL) (EuroTraining approved) courses
This is the top-level comprehensive entry into the EuroTraining Course Directory and enables customers to access detailed information about all your Quality Labelled EuroTraining -approved courses. The QL is an EU-approved endorsement of high teaching standards and facilities and an accreditation that shows a benefit for both students and providers.
In this level only the EuroTraining Quality Labelled courses are accepted. Thus, in order to participate in this level you must enrol through the QL process. Advantages of the level are:
    - Guidelines and feedback on Training Quality
    - Inclusion in EuroTraining Catalogue
    - Comprehensive entry in the Euro Training Course Directory
    - Market feedback from EuroTraining
    - Inclusion in the Customised Training list
    - Expert advise on optimisation of course organisation.

Requirements to benefit from this level are:
    - A simple confirmation of order must be signed.
    - Enrolment in the Quality Labelling process
The opportunity to link to your own web-site will enable you to supervise requests for information and inscriptions.

  • Level 2: Promotional level
If you do not want to enrol in the QL process, but wish to benefit from a EuroTraining promotion service, this level may be of interest to you.
The EuroTraining promotional level gives you:
    - Small advertisement in Course Catalogue
    - Small advertisement in Newsletter promotions
    - Small advertisement in EuroTraining Website
The opportunity to link to your own web-site will enable you to supervise requests for information and inscriptions.

  • Level 3: Simple advertising of courses, seminars and workshops.
You can place a small three-line training advertisement in the Euro Training Course Directory. For this we require from you some simple information (title, date, venue, abstract) listing the event(s) you run. You may add new courses during the year in order to keep your training schedule up to date. This service is free of charge.

As our objective is to ensure that good quality training reaches the attendees we encourage you to select Level 1 and submit your course through the Quality Labelling (QL) process at no additional cost to you. EuroTraining QL courses receive the highest degree of promotion by EuroTraining. To encourage good course providers, Euro Training will provide free entry of all QL courses onto the web based EuroTraining directory throughout 2000. We will also provide a hyperlink from the EuroTraining web-site to your own web-site.

Course entry details of each relevant course will be done on line through a standard course form. The format and constraints are important to ensure the details will fit into the specific page of the EuroTraining Course Directory. It is important that this is done by you and not by us because this is your concise message to promote your course. We will audit the data to ensure it does not break the rules and is not illegal.

When we receive your reply and confirmation of interest in Level 1 - the Top Level service - we will also send you a description of the QL procedure and a Quality Labelling application form. The QL process makes use of a Steering Group of independent European experts in Microelectronics, Microstructures, Packaging and associated technologies to adjudicate the quality of intended EuroTraining courses.

If you are interested in participating through one of the above levels, please send an email to ecdadmin@eurotraining.net specifying the service of your interest. Following your subscription and confirmation of order, you will receive a personal EuroTraining username and password allowing you on-line insertion of specific information at the EuroTraining Web site, according to which Level you have subscribed to.

A fourth option also exists, and that is to join with the EuroTraining team in delivering "Shared Risk" courses. Shared Risk courses do not require any up-front payments by you, and the EuroTraining team very actively supports in marketing and recruitment. Prospective students can register directly with you or at the web site using the Training Registration On Line (TROL) system. Shared Risk means that you develop the course materiel at your cost, there is joint marketing and recruitment, and eventually the Course Provider and EuroTraining profits, if any, pro-rata costs or success. For shared risk courses, please deal with the EuroTraining partner with whom you are in contact.

We look forward to your positive involvement in the EuroTraining programme and to a mutually profitable collaboration.

Please feel free to contact us, should you need further information.

Sincerely,

Pierluigi Civera
